Carob Buttons No Added Sugar

One of the ladies in store used the buttons to make a topping for homemade muesli bars. She recommends to melt the carob in a saucepan over medium heat, adding a little light oil to make sure it doesn’t dry out and then spread over your finished muesli bar and allow to set as it cools.

Interesting Facts About Carob:

The carob tree, is a large evergreen tree that  produces sweet carob pods that are actually classified as legumes. It is known also by its beautiful botanical name Ceratonia siliqua and is native to the Mediterranean as well as Western Asia where it has been cultivated for over 4 thousand years.
