We are very conscious of the environment at Affordable Wholefoods and have investigated to the best of our ability every avenue in order to find the best packaging for online wholefood deliveries.
Based on our research, we now offer two options for packaging with our online store. There is no price difference between the two, and you will be able to select your packaging option of choice at the checkout.
1. NatureFlexTM Home Compostable Packaging

Made from 100% vegetable material our NatureFlex packaging is 100% home compostable. Suitable for worm farms or green recycling bins, NatureFlex is environmentally friendly next generation packaging leading the way in zero waste.
We spent months in the testing of these bags to ensure they kept the wholefoods fresh throughout the delivery process and we are very happy to say that they maintained their freshness just as well as our plastic zip lock bags.
When you choose NatureFlex packaging for your order, your entire parcel comes to you recyclable and home compostable. This includes all bags, the box, paper, packaging tape and labels contributing to reducing plastic waste in the world.
Here is a cool timelapse video of the NatureFlex bags breaking down into compost.
Please note that when you choose NatureFlex for your packaging this applies to our bulk products only. Some items such as laundry detergents and other pre-packaged products will remain in their original packaging.
As NatureFlex bags are not resealable we recommend you transfer the products into airtight containers upon receiving your delivery to help ensure the shelf life of your wholefoods.
2. Soft Plastic Zip Lock

Made from a single virgin plastic our soft plastic zip lock bags are very strong and keep wholefoods fresh for longer periods of time. The bags are reusable and great for storage. We recommend when storing your wholefoods in these bags that you do so in a cool dry place and ensure the bags are properly sealed following each use.
Some great ideas for reusing these bags are as a seedling sprouting pot or miniature hothouse, sealable freezer bags for foods such as home-made falafels, chopped fruit for smoothies or homegrown produce such as peas, strawberries and beans.
