Our organic cinnamon powder is high grade cinnamon compared to the cassia varieties we see most commonly available in food stores and supermarkets. Referred to as ceylon or ‘true cinnamon’ it comes from the inner bark of a small evergreen tree that is native to Sri Lanka.
Ceylon cinnamon is often used for its medicinal qualities.

The ancient Egyptions used Ceylon cinnamon for embalming, as well as adding to certain foods to prevent spoiling.
In the time of the Bubonic Plague, it was common practice to place sponges that had been soaked in cinnamon and cloves into sick rooms of the sufferers.
