Organic Pearled Barley
$8.50KG
Product Description
Barley is one of the first grains to be cultivated in history and said to have originated in the ‘Fertile Crescent’* of the Middle East. Archaeologists date this grain as being over 8000 years old, and still today it is used extensively around the globe as a staple food in many cultures. Known for its delicious nutty flavour and chewy ‘pasta like’ texture, barley can be used in a variety of different recipes savoury and sweet.
Pearled barley is the most popular form of barley having had its outer husk and bran removed making it easier to cook with and more readily digestible then other less processed forms of the grain. Adding Barley to your diet can support healthy blood pressure, bone health, heart health, digestive health, weight management and inflammation.
Recipe Inspiration:
Pearled Barley is traditionally used as an ingredient in soups and casseroles, but can also be used in place of rice to make a delicious, hearty risotto or ‘fried Barley’ dish.
