Walnuts are a wholesome and great tasting nut that are mostly grown in Asia however there are also some walnut farms in Australia.
Walnuts offer a real earthy flavour and are highly nutritious, best known for their rich levels of omega 3 fatty acids. These good fats promote healthy brain function and can reduce the damaging effects of inflammation in the body.
Walnuts are a good source of folate, which is used to treat anaemia and has a rich supply of phosphorus and magnesium, both of which are used by the body for energy production and bone health.
Walnuts are delicious eaten on their own and can be used in both sweet and savoury baking. Try adding to fruit muffins, or crushing and mixing into a green salad. Delicious eaten with avocado, pears and all berries and are a great addition to porridge and breakfast cereals.
